Double Heddle Intermediate/Advanced class: Must be able to warp your own loom and comfortable with threading & weaving complicated structures.

Double the width of your loom & weave two layers at once or weave a tube.

Three different types of woven textiles: a small woven bag with tassels, a colorful checkered cloth, and a weave in progress on a loom.

The class projects using two colors of your choice.

Learn how to wave twice the width of your loom. Weave that adorable, wide baby blanket,  fabric for shirt or weave a pillow without any side seams.

It's all possible when you weave two layers at once with or without side openings.

  • Your sampler will include all the options.

  • Plus there’s an optional bag pattern you can weave on your own.

What you’ll learn

❋At home, with detailed instructions you’ll wind your warp alternating a dark and light yarn threading the slots in one heddle.

❋In class, you’ll thread the second heddle, insert the pick-up sticks, weave all the options and pick-up tips along the way.

❋ How to weave 2 layers and connect them on the side for twice the width or close both selvage sides for a tube, a pillow or a no-sew bag

❋ Hints on threading the holes, getting great warp tension how to lash on your warp plus hemstitching.

❋ Material Requirements:

  • Must have woven on a rigid heddle loom and can warp and weave independently and ready for more complicated threading and weaving.

  • Requires your own working Rigid Heddle loom with a double heddle block or two heddle blocks.

  • 12" looms require two 10-dent heddle, looms 15"+ can use two 7.5, 8 or 10-dent heddle.

  • Both heddles must be the same size and from the same manufacture.

❋ NOTES;

  • Ashford heddles are available for purchase with advance notice.

  • Only plant or acrylic fibers are allowed in the weaving studio. Required supplies to be provided.

  • Please re-schedule if you have Covid or Flu symptoms.

  • Please refrain from wearing ANY perfumes/colognes or scented products.
